Vanity, vanity, all is vanities
I wrote a four-book mystery series for adults featuring Claire Montrose, a vanity license plate verifier (there are actually are such folks) who solved mysteries on the side. The premise was probably a bit of a stretch, but the publisher thought it worked, so who was I to argue.

I've seen two great plates lately:

SIR5ER

IN10CT

Do you have a plate you like?

I love decoding plates. Those are quite good.

What used to be bad was when people came up at signings and handed me their license number, written on a scrap of paper, and expected me to decipher it right away. Crunch time!

My favorite is

MD MD

Let me know if you have any guesses.

So my first thought was Doctor, Doctor, but that's too easy. If it's a Maryland plate, Maryland Doctor. Depending on the person's last name, Dr. Maryland or Dr. Doctor. I sense that none of those are right, though.

It's a pair of docs - or paradox.

Very obscure, though.
