"My events, and I think the publisher trend as you know, is that the intermediate reader authors seem to be touring more. At least that's what I've had for the past year and a half. Brian Jacques, Jenny Nimmo, TA Barron... The ones are coming up next week and they are for 3-6 grade. There are tons of popular books for this age group that are selling well and no one is covering them [Full disclosure: which is why he wrote to me, because he hoped I would talk about one of his visiting authors' book in my Oregonian YA column]. When Jenny Nimmo came, her book was on the NY Times bestseller list, it was her first trip to the US from Wales and she had written over 20 books. There was no mention of her event, yet over 75 people came. Kids and librarians/teachers really drive these things."
