Books and business DO mix

Twice in last couple of weeks I’ve heard a books story on National Public Radio’s Marketplace, and I’m not counting Harry Potter stories. The first was about the vanishing book launch party. The second was on a new short story collection called Wall Street Noir.

I’ve got to put on my thinking cap for my next book to see if there’s a Marketplace angle – or any other kind of non-book-review angle. Off the book page publicity is so much better than a book review. You often get more space, a different angle , a human interest story that might capture folks who wouldn’t normally browse the book review pages - and very seldom is anything bad said about the book.

What’s not to like?
