Physician, heal thyself?

The New York Post has a disturbing story that begins: "When Melanie Cane's boyfriend Luke* dumped her in 1992, the former psychiatric medical resident laced the drinks in his fridge with a toxic drug, nearly killing him. Cane, now 47, of Rye, NY, has penned a memoir."

The most chilling part for me was these two sentences: "Twenty minutes later I was at his house. Luke was curled in a fetal position, complaining he was achy and felt weird. I stayed every night and it was one of the best weeks of my life."

She had even told another resident what she planned to do and says he thought it was a "great" idea.

Makes you wonder how many in the helping professions are damaged themselves. Read more here.
