Leaving on a jet plane

Sitting in the Portland airport, 15 minutes from boarding for a flight to Dallas and then on to Jamestown, NC. This weekend I'll be attending the writerspoliceacademy.com. It's held at a real police academy, and we're trained by the people who really train real cops.

We're going to learn
- Why and how criminals justify their behavior, and how they choose their victims.
- A first responder's take on murder scenes. Learn what they do, and how they do it. Do they have to wait for a detective's okay to enter the scene? Find out who's in charge, the M.E., the paramedic, or the cops?
- What a real SWAT team does as they do what it takes to bring in the bad guy. The team will be assisted by patrol officers, K-9's, firefighters, and EMS personnel.

Plus handcuffing, fingerprinting, jail cell searches and more. It's going to be a blast!

Hand of Fate

Countdown to one-million with another giveaway: Hand of Fate

According to Statcounter, I'm just a few thousand clicks away from having one million page loads for my blog. To celebrate, I’m doing a bunch of giveaways. See them all here: http://aprilhenry.livejournal.com/tag/giveaways .

Hand of Fate (Triple Threat Series #2) is my second book in the New York Times bestselling series with legal analyst Lis Wiehl. .

About the book
When the host of a popular radio talk show is murdered, the suspects almost outnumber his millions of listeners. Outspoken radio talk show host Jim Fate dies tragically when poisonous gas fills the studio while his polarizing show, "The Hand of Fate", is on air.
In the ensuing panic, police evacuate downtown Portland — and the triple threat of FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges, crime reporter Cassidy Shaw, and Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce begin piecing together the madness, motive, and mystery of what just happened. And this time, it's personal since one of the women was secretly dating the host and has access to his home…and possible evidence.

What the critics said
"Excellent ... Readers will identify with these very real women as they try to uncover Fate's killer." - Publishers Weekly

"An FBI special agent, a crime reporter, and a federal prosecutor team up to solve the murder of a talk-show host in this follow-up to Face of Betrayal. While trying to unravel the clues, each woman also must deal with her own personal demons. VERDICT Strong female characters and steady pacing combined with a suspenseful story line will win Wiehl [and Henry] new readers. This is sure to be enjoyed by fans of J.D. Robb." - Library Journal

"The second book by Wiehl and Henry featuring the Triple Threat Club ratchets up the excitement and suspense to another level. Realistic characters with authentic dilemmas will appeal to a wide array of mystery lovers." - Romantic Times, Four Stars
