Would you leave a book behind?

A lot of travelers do in England, it seems, enough that a hotel chain keeps a list of the "most discarded books." It could be that they are simply bulky – the latest Harry Potter is on the list – or that they disappoint.

What’s interesting is how many of these books are ones I have never heard of. I’m glad to know that American hasn’t taken over everything. (Full disclosure: My hat’s off to any American writer who manages to sell English foreign rights to a mystery. It's nearly impossible. They have so many good writers of their own, I guess they don’t need us.)
