What do you think? Should a writer's blogs have anything personal?

A group of mystery writers has been discussing whether blogs should contain personal stuff.

One person cited Sarah Strohmeyer in the Lipstick Chronicles who talked about how a certain act (rhymes with snow job, although she does not actually name it) influenced her husband's decision to marry her, but that she no longer performs said act. (link here: http://tinyurl.com/p8ma3).

I agree that I wouldn't write about that.

Still, sometimes I want to write about something my daughter said. Like this weekend when we were walking along a road in the dark, she showed me how the cars approaching from behind made our shadows go walking backward. (Try this for yourself - it's pretty cool.)

So should I stick to books I'm reading and writing, as well as talking about the writing business? Or should I mix it up a little?

Thoughts?
