Last week, Ira Glass talked with Francine Pascal, who’s credited with creating all the Sweet Valley books. She explained why a prom story is a must for teen movies and TV shows. What was a bit odd to me, at least in part I heard, was that she seemed to be taking credit for writing all those books – which she didn’t. I don’t know, perhaps she did create elaborate outlines so it was more a matter of coloring in the lines. But my understanding was that those books were written by a lot of folks.
