The high school principal in a small Massachusetts fishing town says that girls there entered into a pact to get pregnant – resulting in a pregnancy rate four times greater than normal. At least 17 of the 1200 students are expecting babies. One new 18-year-old mom says, "They're so excited to finally have someone to love them unconditionally. I try to explain it's hard to feel loved when an infant is screaming to be fed at 3 a.m."
And while the school provides plenty of support for unwed moms, the health center is not allowed to hand out birth control. The doctor and nurse their have resigned in protest.
