Uh oh - it's happening again

I love research. So I know in a new book police divers will search a river for a girl's body. And I thought it might be interesting to have a chapter on that.

The problem is I'm getting sucked in. "Back mounted B.C.D.s are not recommended for public safety diving. Most will float an injured or unconscious diver face down, and all will seek to do this when the surfaced diver brings a body back to shore." That's facinating, but does my reader need to know it? The story is about a missing girl, not a police diver.

It's like when I was writing an autopsy scene. I realized maybe I had done too much research when I knew the name of the specail scissors they cut open the intestines with.
