Three things on a Tuesday

1. I woke up last night to the smell of barbecue. I was too tired to close the window, too tired to wonder why our neighbors were barbecueing at 3 a.m. It turns out a wooden spoon had fallen against the heating element in our dishwasher. It is, literally, toast. I'm hoping the dishwasher still works, since I have a bad history with appliances (the microwave that turned itself on, the microwave I nearly set on fire, the toaster that caught the toast on fire, etc.). Meanwhile, our house still smells like barbecue.

2. Sitting for 12 hours at the bloggers conference did my back in. I can no longer pick up anything from the floor. Now pretty much anything I touch somehow ends up on the floor.

3. Do you think there's any market for two YA books about hoarding? Because I always thought it would be interesting to write one, but Publishers Lunch lists this: "Cynthia Jaynes Omololu's DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS, in which the garbage-filled world of a 16-year-old girl comes crashing down around her, even as she gets her first glimpse of what it might be like to be "normal" rather than living cloaked in the secret shame of her mom's out-of-control hoarding, to Mary Kate Castellani at Walker, by Erin Murphy of Erin Murphy Literary Agency (world)."
