Edentate - this is scary!

Teen wanted to know what people did for toothbrushes hundreds of years ago. I said they chewed on twigs. I told her it wasn't that long ago that many older folks didn't have any teeth. I was thinking of the Thirties.

Then I looked up the CURRENT incidence. Not having any teeth at all is called edentulism. In Kentucky, Louisiana, and West Virigina, more than 40% of folks over 65 have ZERO teeth, or are edentate.
