The movie version of Coraline is being filmed right here in Portland, in painstaking stop-motion puppetry. (It opens Feb. 6.) The director says, "The animator poses the figure and then makes minute adjustments 12 to 24 times a second. It's shockingly primitive at its core."
This is all being done a few miles from our house. And Teen’s BFF dad does some animation work at the studio and has seen the figures, which he describes as “eerie.”
