I'm not a winter person, and man, have we got winter. Portland is the kind of place where temps much below 30 are rare, but we're going to have a week with lows around 15 and highs around 25. Yesterday I took a very slippery walk to the store to stock up on essentials: milk (my idea of an essential) and Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles (Teens' idea of an essential). The whole time I tried to convince myself that the blowing snow was simply really good computer animation.
I thought that once I quit my job time would slow down, but it hasn't. I still can't believe summer is over. How did that happen?
But one HUGE blessing is that I am no longer required to go to work no matter what the weather is. I remember many, many scary mornings of trying to get to work, slipping and sliding. Even with four wheel drive, you don't have four wheel stop.
