A video ain't a book

A video ain't a book - but can it turn watchers into readers?

Maybe. I don't know. I do know I am on a listserv for mystery authors, half of them self-published (let me just say: bad, bad idea), and many of them are now pouring even more money into making video trailers for their books (and I'm thinking again: quite likely bad, bad idea).

I've posted before about this.

I'm just not sure that's the right way to connect with readers. It's using one experience to sell another. Although I see plenty of ads for food on TV, and that must work. Although if more and more people crank these things out, who will see them? What do you think?

Here's the Book Standard article that got me thinking about them again.
