Another one bites the dust

I've said before that I love independent bookstores. I think their staffs, on the whole, are more willing to take a chance on an unknown author and to stock wider and deeper than chain stores.

So another Oregon independent is closing. I would guess it was done in by:
- Location on wierd one-way street
- Set back from street so you can whizz by it four or five times easy
- Not a lot of parking
- A pretty decent Borders in another part of town
- Amazon, Costco, the Internet in general, and other places that sell books for pretty cheap.

The odd thing was, I was just there a month ago and had a pretty good turnout. But 30 people bought six books - all paperbacks.
