Yeah! Film rights to The Hunger Games sold!

Publishers Weekly says, "Lionsgate has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the film version of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Collins will adapt the screenplay, and Nina Jacobson will produce through Color Force."

When Nina Jacobson was the president of Buena Vista Motion Pictures, she was pitched my Learning to Fly. She didn't like the screenwriter's take, and it never got made into a movie, but still it was very exciting.

Anyone going to BEA in May? My offer still stands: If you get an ARC of Catching Fire, the next in the series, and loan it to me, I promise to read it in three days, not eat while reading it or otherwise risk befouling it, pay for shipping both ways, AND donate $25 to the charity of your choice. [Interested in joining me - reading the book after me under the terms? Let me know in the comments.]
