It's the raspberry tart recipe from one of the Silver Palate Cookbooks. It takes a long time to make, and it's got so much sugar and butter that just looking at it could probably raise your cholesterol 200 points.
It is delicious.
On my first trip to New York, when I was in my early 20s, I dragged my husband (then boyfriend) up to the Silver Palate, like a pilgrimage to Mecca. I don't know what I expected. Maybe a lot of items for carryout. A chance to talk to Julie and Sheila in person. Instead there were a few jars of jam and salad dressing. It was mostly a place to order catering.
I understand the two women later quarreled and their friendship broke apart. But they left behind three great cookbooks.
