Mystery authors talk to PLA

Was there ever a better combination than mystery lovers and the library? So many of the books I see coming out the door of my local branch are mysteries.

Karin Slaughter, Meg Gardiner, Ted Dekkar, Cara Black, Jo Nesbo, and Oregon's own Dana Haynes spoke at last week's Public Library Association's annual meeting held right here in Portland. I remember when Karin's first book was about to come out and Laura Lippman was raving about it. And Cara Black and I once spent time at the world's most horrible smoke-infested hotels I've ever been at: Sams Town in Las Vegas. It was so smoky it even turned off smokers. And I've known Dana for a few years. He was so excited when he told me about signing copies of his upcoming book for thousands of librarians.

You can read more about their talks here.
