Whatever you do, don’t try to pull the wool over Steve Almond’s eyes

Wow! I’m not sure I would ever be gutsy enough to post something like this (although I will admit saving a jaw-dropping email or two), but Steve Almond, the guy behind Candyfreak, had reprinted his exchanges with someone who wanted him to contribute to a book that came out in 2007.

But it turned out that none of the contributors was going to be paid even a small amount for the anthology. On the way to Steve figuring this out, there is an increasingly tense exchange of emails, which you will have to read for yourself here.
