Do you freelance? Then you need this book

On Sunday, my Facebook status was "Kneading is soothing." Then I decided to change it to "Kneading dough is soothing," for those people who don't make dough from scratch.

Someone responding that needing dough is definitely not soothing. How right they are!

And how I wish I had had The Money Book for Freelancers, Part-Timers, and the Self-Employed: The Only Personal Finance System for People with Not-So-Regular Jobs when I first decided to quit my day job. I wish I had been living by some of its suggestions for the last two years. It’s got all kind of good advice for those of us who have gone to having regular paychecks, a retirement plan and benefits to none of those things (unless we provide them ourselves).

When you get paid just two to three times a year, it’s hard to budget. It’s hard when you get the big check not to think you can do anything and everything you want with it. It’s hard when an editor is backed up and doesn’t get to your manuscript for a long while, or when a check you had counted on shows up months late. This book can help you with all those situations.

Just reading it made me feel more peaceful and together.
