When you use this phrase in reference to Lady Gaga, maybe you are overthinking it

An opinion piece in the New York Times talks about whether Lady Gaga is a feminist, and then uses that as a launching pad. Everyone wants to talk about Lady Gaga [Full disclosure: I know someone whose niece is a backup dancer for Lady Gaga], but only the NYT could use a sentence that begins with: "The Cartesian dualism that drives Sartre’s understanding..."
